On its southern border is the Miami International Airport, only a short 15-minute drive away from Virginia Gardens.
The Miami International Mall is also very near to the residents of the neighborhood.
The small neighborhood of Virginia Gardens came about because of the residents’ love for horses.
Before it became its own neighborhood, Virginia Gardens was part of Miami Springs. But the ban on horses within the city limits forced about 50 citizens to build their own city.
Most of the residents who founded the neighborhood were wealthy, owning huge estates that measure up to 5 acres where they can enjoy riding their horses.
Today, the tiny enclave is a full-service well-planned community that has its own police force and garbage pick-up services. The community is continuously developing the neighborhood, planting trees and encouraging residents to maintain parkways along their homes.
Virginia Gardens may be a different city from Miami Springs but they share most of the amenities including the Virginia Park at 38th Street that serves as the home of the Miami Springs/Virginia Park Soccer Club.
Residents are lucky to be near two of the best country clubs in Miami – Miami Springs Golf and Country Club and Country Club of Miami, both of which has the best fairways and dodgy greens that amateur and serious golfers can enjoy.
Its central location allows its residents to have convenient access to the waters of Miami Beach including the several upscale establishments in the area.
Virginia Gardens is also a community with a stellar reputation for regulating businesses and helping them flourish in the neighborhood.
Dining experience in Virginia Gardens is a perfect mix of international cuisine. Cilantros Cafeteria & Juice Bar specializes in Caribbean meals while Latin Yuka Deli serves up Dominican cuisine. For Italian flare, among Miami’s Best Italian is Basilico Ristorante at NW 36th Street. Other restaurants residents can try include Denny’s, A Little Bit of Philly and Café Y Sabor.
Bars to try near and within the neighborhood include Bryson’s Pub, Woody’s West End Tavern, Ku-Va Restaurant and Bar and Tom’s NFL.
