The village is bounded by the North Ocean Drive on the east, Ocean Bay Club Drive on the north, Pine Avenue on the south and the waterway on the west. It is surrounded by the neighborhoods of Lauderdale by the Sea, Lake Estates, Landings, and Bay Colony.
The community took its “Sea Ranch” name from the Sea Ranch Hotel located across the village. The “Lakes” was added later on to denote the presence of the two man-made lakes of Lake Seneca and Lake Cayuga.
The village is accessible via the private road of Gatehouse Drive.
Sea Ranch Lakes is predominantly made up of its gated community, the exclusive beach club and the public shopping plaza.
Incorporated in 1959, the community has a mayor and seven village council members that are elected every two years.
All the roads, parks, lakes and streets in the community are owned and maintained by the Sea Ranch Beach Club. Since it sits on a private land, the Sea Ranch Lakes Police Department can legally allow or deny access to non-residents of the village.
Its police department has 30 certified police officers who patrol the residential areas, oceanfront beach club and the shopping plaza.
Fire and EMS are provided for by the Pompano Beach Fire Department.
Within Sea Ranch Lakes is a public shopping plaza that caters to most of the needs of the community. It is also home to the private Sea Ranch Beach Club where residents can wade in a pool and directly access the Sea Ranch Lakes Beach.
