Oakland Park Information

Oakland Park is a city of Broward County that borders the neighborhood of Wilton Manors. This proximity has tremendously increased the real estate value of Oakland Park homes over the years.

The city was previously known as Floranada – a combination of Florida and Canada. It was originally bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Middle River. Over the years, the neighborhood continued to expand its area and the boundaries changed. Its current boundaries are: US1 to the east, Cypress Creek Boulevard to the north, Middle River to the west and Oakland Park Boulevard to the south.

It is surrounded by the neighborhoods of Wilton Manors, Coral Ridge, Lauderdale Manors, Imperial Point and North Fort Lauderdale. Wilton Manors has a number of new developments and is rapidly becoming one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Broward.

Due to Oakland Park’s proximity to the said neighborhood, there is a spurred interest for the community. In fact, the city is planning on redeveloping its downtown to attract property hunters and more commercial establishments.

In 2005, the city had a community redevelopment area plan that created the Culinary Arts District in Downtown Oakland Park. The district, with its main focus on food, has a wide collection of everything food and kitchen related. The plan is somehow rivaling Downtown Miami’s dining hotspots.

Aside from restaurants and bars, the area also has specialty stores including kitchen furniture store, knife shop and even gourmet stores.

Nearby Attractions

About 5 minutes east of the city is the Coral Ridge Country Club, which is home to impeccable greens and fairways.
