North Bay Village Information
The community of North Bay Village used to be submerged under Biscayne Bay but developments in the area during the 1940s created a palm-tree lined residential enclave. Years of continuous development gave birth to a lush neighborhood built with gorgeous single family homes.
By early 1940s, continuous dredging in the area formed Treasure Island and Harbor Island that became part of the North Bay Village when the neighborhood became incorporated. Harbor Island is home to multi-family homes, while Treasure Island has a mixture of multi-family complexes on its east side and single family homes on its western side.
Many refer to North Bay Village as a three-island community due to this. Kennedy Causeway at 79th Street serves as the link of the three islands.
By 1960s, Broadcast Key or Cameo Island became part of the neighborhood during the time when North Bay was a popular destination for winter residents.
