Richmond West was among the areas that suffered badly during the 1945 Homestead hurricane, which also damaged the Richmond Naval Air Station.
The Dadeland Mobile Home Park was also one of those that were severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in August 1992.
Almost all of the residential homes and commercial establishments in the area were totally destroyed.
Due to the strong will of its residents, Richmond West was slowly rebuilt to become one of Miami’s most populated area that is home to more than 32,000 residents.
