Richmond Heights Information

Formerly a land owned by the US Navy, Richmond Heights was purchased intended to serve as an airship base known as the Naval Air Station Richmond.

After the Second World War, Captain Frank C. Martin bought the adjacent land of southwest Dade to build a community for African American veterans.

This community then became Richmond Heights where residents can engage in weekend social activities.

By 1951, the area has 457 residences. Today, Richmond Heights stands as a dream community of the late Captain Martin, with residents having a strong sense of community, camaraderie and concern for one another particularly in making the area a safe and peaceful residential enclave for all.

To celebrate the rich history of Richmond Heights, residents hold an Annual Historic Weekend where many visitors join dinners, watch live music performances and participate in white hot casino.

About 10 minutes from the neighborhood is the upscale shopping center of The Falls. Zoo Miami and its numerous amenities are within 15 minutes away.
