It is not enough to live on a property with a coastal view; some prefer to have a piece of a private island.
In the heart of the Biscayne Bay, property developers are pouring millions of dollars to create luxurious communities on Miami Islands.
Affluent communities like Fisher Island and Star Island were Miami’s most desirable neighborhoods about a century ago. Today, the property boom was triggered by a 2012 home sale of a secluded Indian Creek Island property amounting to $47 million. While Indian Creek Island, also known as “Billionaire Bunker,” is still Miami’s most expensive private island; it is just one of the many island communities appealing to the global elite.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools serve the students living within the Miami Islands. Schools in the neighborhood include Biscayne Elementary School, Mater Beach Academy, North Beach Elementary School, South Pointe Elementary School, Treasure Island Elementary School, Feinberg-Fisher K-8 Center, Nautilus Middle School and Miami Beach Senior High School.
Some of the private schools in the Miami Islands include St. Patrick Catholic School, Rabbi Alexander S. Gross Hebrew Academy, Landow Yeshiva-Lubavitch Educational Center, Mechina High School and Fisher Day School.
The Florida International University School of Architecture has a sister campus located at 420 Lincoln Road.
