Lummus Park

Homes For Sale

Lummus Park is an urban neighborhood in Miami, bounded by Flagler Street to its south, NW 5th Street to its north, NW 3rd Street to its east and the Miami River to its west. The historic district of Lummus Park with its well-maintained structures remain Miami’s most important neighborhood as it exemplifies the early 20th century architecture.

The Neighborhood

Lummus Park was one of Miami’s first open parks during its development in 1909. Its lands were previously under the name of Model Land Company, owned by Henry Flagler before it underwent developments.

Since its creation, the area had many improvements including several buildings from the 1920s that are still standing today such as Miami’s old Scottish Rite Temple, Trinity CME Church, Fort Dallas and William Wagner House. In 2006, the historic enclave became part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Lummus Park belongs to some of the last remaining residential neighborhoods that are near Downtown Miami, as some of the surrounding neighborhoods of the financial district were consumed by commerce.

Miami International Airport is only 17 minutes away from the neighborhood by car, while American Airlines Arena is only 12 minutes away.

Lummus Park residents enjoy the fact that the neighborhood has maintained its tranquility and sense of community while being close to their place of work in downtown and other establishments in the commercialized neighborhoods.

Despite its separation from majority of other neighborhoods by the I-95, getting around town is never a problem for its residents as the Metrobus and Miami Metrorail at Government Center NW 1st Street and NW 1st Avenue are easily accessible.

The grassy area of Lummus park, located at the east of Miami River, has basketball and volleyball courts, garden seats and playgrounds that the family can enjoy. Some residents also visit Reeves Park, Henderson Park and Riverside Park.
