The Neighborhood

The upscale neighborhood of Key Biscayne is one of the most affluent in Miami famed for its natural beauty. Its borders include: Crandon Park and Miami-Dade County Park to the north, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park to the south, Atlantic Ocean to the east and Biscayne Bay to the west.

The atmosphere of the town is reminiscent of its past. Palm trees lining the streets and dotting the homes remind the residents that the town was once a coconut plantation.

Key Biscayne started residential development in 1947, but its incorporation occurred in 1991. The town has its own police force, elementary and middle schools within the neighborhood.

Their civic center houses the police station, fire station, administration building and recreation and community centers.

The community has its own publication – Islander News. For community information and business directory, Key Biscayne releases a bi-weekly Islander Life. Key Biscayne Magazine publishes lifestyle news about the neighborhood.

The neighborhood is also home to the 6,000 square feet Key Biscayne Branch Library operated by the Miami-Dade Public Library System.
