Jupiter is a town of Palm Beach County. It occupies the northernmost area of the said county and boasts of a beachside community voted as one of the happiest seaside towns in the United States.

The Neighborhood

Jupiter is located on an area that was first named for the tribe of Hobe Indians who lived along the mouth of the Loxahatchee River. The name Jupiter was due to an error of a mapmaker who mistook Jobe as Jove. Jove was then interpreted by subsequent map makers as a Latin translation of Jupiter, the Roman God of light, sky and weather.

The naming of Jupiter town inspired its nearby Juno Beach to adapt the name of Jupiter’s sister and wife, Juno.

The town is an ideal holiday destination because of its Tropical savanna climate. Most days of the year are warm to hot. Due to this, the town has many tropical plants and lush landscaping in parks, open spaces and lawns of private homes.

Jupiter’s fire protection and emergency medical services are provided for by Palm Beach County Fire Department since 1984.

The town has three designated stations: Stations 16, 18 and 19. Station 19 is the main headquarters that covers the town of Jupiter, Lake Park, Juno Beach and the unincorporated areas of Palm Beach Country Estates and Jupiter Farms.

The town has its own police department manned by 114 sworn officers. The officers are supported by 29 civilian staff personnel.

The town is conveniently located within some of Palm Beach’s most sought after places. To the east, Jupiter has the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, while on the west is the Palm Beach International Raceway. To its south is the lovely neighborhood of Tequesta and to the north is the vibrant Juno Beach.

Things To Do

A wonderful seaside community like most sought after communities in Miami Beach, Jupiter has lots of activities that residents can enjoy. It has the Riverwalk – a master planned Recreational Corridor that covers the eastern shoreline of the Intracoastal Waterway starting from the north of the Jupiter Inlet along the Jupiter Ridge Natural Area. The proposed Riverwalk will run about 2.5 miles and offer various establishments that locals and tourists will enjoy.

The town is also home to the Burt Reynolds Park, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Jupiter Ridge Natural Area.
