Brickell is a rapidly growing urban neighborhood previously touted as the “Millionaire’s Row” due to the large number of lavish mansions constructed in the early 1900s along Brickell Avenue. Forbes Magazine tagged the neighborhood as Miami’s Wall Street because of its high concentration of wealthy residents working in the trade and financial sectors. It is now one of the up and coming neighborhoods in Miami attracting young and affluent professionals.

The Neighborhood

Brickell is part of the Greater Downtown Miami and is directly south of the historic central business district.

It lies south of the Miami River, extending south to the Rickenbacker Causeway.

The community is known as South Florida and Miami’s major financial district, where most businesses are from the investment and banking sector.

Brickell is also known for housing most the foreign consulates in the state, including those consulates of Brazil, Ecuador, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

During the 1900s, Brickell Avenue had stately mansion lining the streets, earning its nickname of “Millionaire’s Row.” However, aggressive developments and influx of people slowly replaced mansions with hotels, apartment, and office towers.

The neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly. Residents move about via the Miami Metrorail at the Brickell Station and through 5 stations served by the Metromover’s Brickell Loop.

The neighborhood’s mixed residential and financial areas is at north of Broadway, while most of residential homes are at the south of Broadway. Low and mid-rise residences are at the west of Brickell Avenue, while high-rise buildings are in the east.

Most of Brickell Miami’s residences include upscale apartment towers and high-rise condominiums.
